Free parking for the first week: Godewind multi-storey car park opens after a construction period of around 12 months

The new Godewind multi-storey car park in Travemünde/Germany is now officially open, following a small opening ceremony that involved local residents as well as the companies involved in its construction and representatives from politics and local government. Construction of the multi-storey car park was overseen by KWL GmbH on behalf of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck, with the construction work carried out by the general contractor Deutsche Industrie- und Parkhausbau GmbH.

On a total of seven levels it offers space for some 301 vehicles – including 30 parking bays for parent-and-child parking, six women-only spaces and three accessible parking spaces for disabled persons. The car park also features charging stations for ten electric vehicles, a photovoltaic system, a green facade, publicly accessible toilets and covered bicycle storage locations. It uses automatic camera-based number plate recognition and has no barriers. Payments can be made with cash, via debit card or via the app. Alongside standard offerings for short stays (€2/hour or €8/day) and long stays (€79/month), there will also be special rates for parking for one week (€39) and two weeks (€69), which are particularly aimed at tourists. These offers will be available from 7 April and can only be booked via the following online shop: https://shop.mh-parkservice.com/parkhaus-godewind

The multi-storey car park will be linked to the city’s parking management system and integrated in the website www.parken-luebeck.de, where current parking space availability is displayed in real time.

To help raise awareness for the new multi-storey car park among visitors to Travemünde, KWL will be offering free parking when the car park first opens: from 29 March to 6 April, anyone will be able to use the car park without having to purchase a parking ticket.

“Our new multi-storey car park offers a modern and service-focused parking facility for Travemünde, and it is a great addition to the existing offerings that will really help to alleviate parking pressures particularly during peak demand,” says Dr Ralph Bruns, authorised representative and Department Manager for Parking at KWL GmbH.
